Ensuring a Safe Environment
At Insight Early Learning, the safety of our children, families, staff, and visitors is our top priority. We are dedicated to maintaining a secure environment through comprehensive safety and emergency management practices.
To uphold our commitment, we regularly conduct emergency preparedness and fire equipment training sessions, facilitated by an accredited emergency response organization. These sessions include simulated emergency evacuation drills involving the children. While these drills may be unsettling for first-time participants, especially when an audible fire alarm is simulated, consistent practice helps children respond calmly and efficiently. Over time, children, particularly those who are ambulant, learn to form lines for headcounts and prepare for evacuations with composure. Often, older children demonstrate the same level of calmness as their teachers, who guide them through the process.
We ensure that the safety components of our buildings, known as “Essential Safety Measures,” are serviced and maintained according to the intervals specified by Australian Standards, Building Acts, and State & National legislation. These measures are our first line of defense in emergencies or fire situations, and neglecting them can put lives at risk.
Our safety protocols include:
- Monthly emergency management exercises, such as evacuation or lockdown drills
- Annual emergency preparedness and fire equipment training by an accredited organization
- Monthly testing of fire panels and fire sprinklers
- Biannual testing of fire extinguishers and emergency lighting
- Quarterly checks of exit doors and paths of travel to exits
