At Insight Early Learning, we are passionate about nurturing a sense of responsibility towards sustainability in our children. For this year’s Spring Holiday Program, our focus is on promoting eco-friendly practices and fostering an awareness of the environment.
Here are just some of the activities our centres had in store for their Spring Holiday Program:
Recycler Man at Burwood
Insight Early Learning Burwood had an exciting visit from the Recycler Man, who introduced the children to the importance of recycling and waste management. The children learned about the various types of bins—recycling, general waste, and compost—and discovered what materials belong in each one. They were especially engaged in a hands-on activity, where they practiced sorting and placing paper into the correct recycling bin.
This interactive experience sparked curiosity and reinforced the importance of environmental responsibility. The children showed great enthusiasm and participation, making it a valuable and memorable learning opportunity for everyone.
Preschool Science Day at Joondalup
The little explorers at Insight Early Learning Joondalup had a fabulous time with Professor Paul Zampogna during his engaging science incursion. The children participated in hands-on investigations, discovering the difference between sweet and sour using citric acid.
They had the chance to use their critical thinking skills while participating in fun experiments, including making their own sherbet and creating mini volcanoes!
Kind Planet Incursion at Kelmscott
Insight Early Learning Kelmscott was excited to welcome the Kind Planet Incursion to inspire and educate our kids about the importance of taking care of our beautiful planet. 🌱🌸
Through interactive activities and hands-on learning, the children explored:
- 🌿 Sustainability and how to protect the environment
- 🌎 The importance of recycling and reducing waste
- 🌱 How to live a more eco-friendly life
This incursion was all about fostering kindness towards our planet and encouraging the next generation to make a positive impact. What an inspiring and eye-opening experience for all!
Top End Critters at Little Flyers Darwin
Over at Little Flyers Darwin, we recently dressed up as our favourite animals in anticipation of some much loved guests to our service—Top End Critters!
We always love the hands-on learning they provide, allowing our children to get up close and personal with local wildlife. The children could barely contain their excitement as Tom came in with a big box. We sang “What’s in the box?!” and gave a drum roll on our knees before each critter was revealed—first a lizard, then a snake, then a dragon, and last of all, a crocodile!
We learned a little bit about each animal before having the opportunity to hold them, observe them, touch them, smell them, and talk to them! Some children were very keen to show the animals their costumes or figurines, and even pretended to be Tom after he left, inviting their friends to gently pat their toy crocodiles or dinosaurs!
These interactions help children understand how to gently and considerately interact with animals, fostering a sense of respect for all living things. We all have an important role to play in protecting animals and their habitats by caring for our environment!
Petting Zoo Incursion at Moama
As part of our holiday program, Insight Early Learning Moama had Hannah’s Homestead Mobile Farm visit us for a fun morning!
The children got to get up close and personal with all the baby animals. Each room had time with the animals, and the children were able to feed the animals, hold them, and ask Farmer Hannah any questions they had.
We think the stars of the day were the baby lambs named “Daisy” and “Dolly” who were super friendly and enjoyed lots of cuddles and back scratches. Turtle Frank was also popular with lots of children asking questions about their webbed feet and why he lives in water!
Loose Part Play at Port Coogee
The Seahorses room at Insight Early Learning Port Coogee had an amazing time during a creative session with loose parts!
It’s incredible to see their imaginations take flight while they explore and create, all while learning the importance of reusing and reducing waste.
Together, we’re planting the seeds for a sustainable future! 🌍
Botanical Gardens Excursion at Southlakes and Stream Ave, Dubbo
Some of our children travelled to Dubbo Botanical Gardens to explore as an extension of their keen interest in our sustainability program from both our Insight Early Learning Southlakes and Insight Early Learning Stream Ave centres.
They enjoyed participating in a morning of exploring the gardens, running games, and a healthy morning tea prepared by our chefs Miss Jasmin and Miss Rachel.
Sustainability is part of our Insight Early Learning philosophy, as it allows our children to learn more about the world they live in and how they can be active citizens within their communities.
Green Booster Day at Throsby
Insight Early Learning Throsby welcomes everyone to Green Booster Day 💚, a celebration of all things green—green eating, green attire, and a green lifestyle!
It’s inspiring to see the pride on the children’s faces as they wear their green attire and engage in various eco-friendly activities. One of the highlights was letting them cut their own veggies for afternoon tea. Our Gang Gangs group also took the chance to feed our little worm while learning about the sustainable practices for our worm farm.
